Atalanta fumbled the opportunity to close on the top two with this disappointing stalemate against Venezia, as they are still without a home victory in Serie A in 2025.
La Dea knew with Napoli-Inter played after this, they had a great chance to close up on the top two. Isak Hien, Odilon Kossounou, Gianluca Scamacca and Giorgio Scalvini were still out of action, but Daniel Maldini was back on the bench and Ademola Lookman started again despite his frosty rapport with coach Gian Piero Gasperini. Venezia are without a win in 2025, missing Francesco Zampano, Marin Sverko, Richie Sagrado, Filip Stankovic and Michael Svoboda, but were coming off a 0-0 draw with Lazio.
Kike Perez had early penalty appeals, but was simply weaker than Stefan Posch when shoulder-to-shoulder, while Lookman hit the side-netting after squirming past a defender.
Lookman also stood up a cross that Mateo Retegui nodded over, with Juan Cuadrado in a better position behind him, and another Retegui header was off target.
Alessio Zerbin got greedy and blasted over on the counter-attack rather than providing the pass, while Cuadrado and Lookman tested Ionut Radu from tight angles.
Atalanta were unlucky not to take the lead when Lookman sprinted into the box, his back-heel flick set up Davide Zappacosta for a sweeping finish off the far post.

Moments later, Cuadrado also clipped the woodwork with his wayward cross-shot, while Radu stuck out a foot to parry when De Ketelaere sent Lookman clear on goal.
However, Venezia almost scored with the last kick of the half, Zerbin pouncing on a Zappacosta error for a lob that Marco Carnesecchi was equal to.
Retegui fired over first-time from a Cuadrado pull-back, then De Ketelaere fired Lookman’s assist straight at Radu.
Lookman drilled inches wide of the near post, while Carnesecchi used his body to deny John Yeboah’s tap-in from close range.
A Mario Pasalic looping header landed on the roof of the net, but Lookman incredibly fired over from point-blank range as Sead Kolasinac flicked on a corner to the back post.
