Central defender Knaak played the whole match on her senior international debut while Miedema captained Netherlands.

Meanwhile, Jess Park played 84 minutes as part of a front three for Sarina Wiegman's England in a 1-1 draw with Portugal in Portimao.

She was eventually replaced by Chloe Kelly, who is currently on loan Arsenal while Laura Blindkilde Brown was an unused substitute

Earlier in the day. Laia Aleixandri and Leila Ouahabi both started as Spain came from two goals down to beat Belgium 3-2.

Aleixandri played the full match in the heart of defence, while left-back Ouahabi was replaced after 82 minutes with Spain 2-1 down.

The world champions then proved their mettle with two stoppage time goals to turn the result on its head.

Finally, loanee Laura Wienroither was an unused substitute as Austria beat Scotland 1-0.

That result gave them an early lead in the Nations League group also containing Germany and Netherlands.

We'll have roundups throughout the rest of the February international break on mancity.com and our official app.
