La Liga side Sevilla are exploring a deal to sign Jens Castrop (21) from 2. Bundesliga side 1. FC Nürnberg, according to Florian Plettenberg.
There has been discussions between the two clubs, but there is also interest in the German youth international from Bundesliga duo Werder Bremen and Union Berlin, with negotiations ongoing.
Castrop, who has played in 15 of Nürnberg’s 17 league games this season, has a contract with the club until 2026, but the 2. Bundesliga side are open to a sale this month should a six-month loan back until the summer be included.
The central-midfielder, who can also play on the right, has played an important role under Miroslav Klose this season, scoring three and creating one in 16 games across all competitions for Der Club.
Since his move from 1. FC Köln in 2023, Castrop has 82 appearances across all competitions.
Sevilla’s pursuit of Castrop isn’t the first time the Spanish club have turned to Germany this month. Garcia Pimienta’s side are closing in on the signing of Ruben Vargas from Bundesliga side Augsburg.
