Sheffield Wednesday fan pundit Patrick doesn't feel a return to Hillsborough for Carlos Carvalhal would make sense if Danny Rohl departs.

Sheffield Wednesday have been told to steer clear of Carlos Carvalhal if they do have to find a replacement for Danny Rohl this summer.
The German has been terrific for the Owls since he arrived at Hillsborough in October 2023, which included saving the side from relegation against all odds that season.
Rohl’s first full campaign resulted in a mid-table finish despite modest resources, so it’s no surprise the ex-Bayern Munich coach is attracting interest from clubs in England and in the Bundesliga.
Even though there’s no confirmation that Rohl will depart, it seems apparent that Wednesday could be on the lookout for a new boss.
And, with former favourite Carvalhal set to leave Braga, there has been some debate about whether he would return.
The Portuguese coach was a very popular figure during his time at the club, which saw him oversee back-to-back top six finishes after his appointment in 2015.
Sadly for the Owls, the side fell short on both occasions, but it’s the closest Wednesday have come to returning to the Premier League since they were relegated from the top-flight in 2000.
Yet, when quizzed by FLW about the prospect of Carvalhal returning to Yorkshire, Owls’ fan pundit Patrick McKenna made it clear he doesn’t think it would be a good move.
“That is an out there suggestion. Carlos’ time here has been and gone. In his first season there were some great memories. It was one of my favourite seasons, probably my favourite this century.
“Ultimately, Carlos did fail in his objective to take us up, and by the time he had left it had gone a bit sour. He didn’t really leave in great circumstances.
“Personally, I did think in the second season he did blow it, in that play-off campaign, when we had Huddersfield and Reading to beat to go up - it was a massive missed opportunity. His tactics against Huddersfield did cost us, and he didn’t manage players fitness well, such as Kieran Lee, and that really shortened Lee’s time at Hillsborough.
“A manager has to have done something really special to be considered for a return, and, even with that, some say it’s best not to go back. We’ve seen other clubs go back, and the second time isn’t as good. Carlos isn’t a name I’d be looking for, and I wouldn’t have any desire to see him back at Hillsborough.”
It’s unclear whether Carvalhal would even want to return to Wednesday, but it would be a move that divided opinion.
However, it’s important to note that Wednesday are a different club now to then, as they were big spenders under Dejphon Chansiri in that period, which is no longer the case.
In Rohl, the Owls took a risk by appointing a bright, young coach who hadn’t been given an opportunity as a head coach, and you would expect them to go down a similar path, as opposed to someone like Carvalhal.
