The Netherlands international has already agreed to personal terms with the Giallorossi as his contract at Ajax runs out in June.
However, the Serie A side are pushing to sign the player this month, so they must reach an agreement with the Dutch club as well.

According to the latest report from Sky Sport Italia transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, the two clubs are now close to reaching an agreement as just €2m separate the Giallorossi’s offer and Ajax’s demands.
Previous reports claimed Ajax’s asking price was €10m, while Roma’s opening bid was €5m.
The Giallorossi coach, Claudio Ranieri, refused to discuss transfer speculations during a press conference on Wednesday but confirmed he’s looking for a versatile wing-back who can play on the left and right flank.
Roma return to action tomorrow, Friday, January 17, in a home game against Patrick Vieira’s Genoa.
