Southampton have officially announced that Ben Brereton Diaz has joined Sheffield United again on a January loan.
The Ben Brereton Diaz transfer saga has been going on since the transfer window opened. A move to rejoin Sheffield United had been on the cards, and even Diaz made his preference known last week.
Still, no official confirmation instilled fears that he might end up staying at the club. After all, the Saints have just recently managed to find a suitor for Maxwel Cornet.
But, don't worry Southampton fans, the conclusion of this saga has finally arrived.
Recently, Southampton has officially announced Diaz's loan move. In their own words: "The Chile international made 13 appearances for Saints in the first half of the season, but rejoins the Blades for a second spell having spent time on loan at Bramall Lane from Villarreal in 2023/24."
Without a doubt, Ben Brereton Diaz enjoyed great success at Sheffield United last time around. Thus, it is safe to assume that Diaz will replicate his scoring stats again for the Blades.
Hence, a permanent move is also expected in the future.
The Saints also knew this and decided to sweeten the deal even further. According to Daily Echo's reporter Alfie House, Southampton has provided Sheffield United the right to sign Diaz after his current loan spell.
Honestly, this is a shrewd transfer business from the Saints.
One that could benefit both the clubs and the Chilean striker. Talking about Southampton, the timing of Diaz and Cornet's departure has been perfect.
These moves send a good message to the players to either improve their performances or find a new club. Currently, Southampton has way too many players who haven't been good enough in the last few years.
A huge chunk of them are attackers and their Southampton futures must be resolved quickly. Paul Onuachu is one such striker, who could link up with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Besiktas.
