Lamine Yamal has quickly established himself as one of the most influential players, not only for Barcelona but also in La Liga this season.

In just seven matches, the 17-year-old has already recorded four goals and provided five assists, underlining his importance to Barcelona’s attacking play.

Hence, it is no surprise, then, that Yamal has become a major concern for La Liga defences. After six league games, the Barcelona winger leads the league in assists.

In addition, as reported by Mundo Deportivo, his ability to take on defenders is reflected in his 37 dribbles, which also places him at the top of the rankings.

However, his dynamic style of play has made him a target for fouls, as he currently leads the league in fouls received, with 18.

In the final moments of Barcelona’s match against Villarreal, he suffered two particularly harsh challenges from Sergi Cardona and Ilias Akhomach, both of which resulted in yellow cards for the Villarreal players.

Despite these hard fouls, though, Yamal has maintained a composed approach on the field, with his teammates often stepping in to defend him after such challenges.

Out of the 18 fouls Yamal has suffered so far this season, only four have resulted in yellow cards for the opposition. On average, Yamal is fouled three times per game, a figure that highlights just how difficult he is to stop legally.

In all La Liga games this season, Yamal has been consistently fouled. He was stopped illegally four times against Villarreal, and three times each in games against Girona, Valladolid, Athletic Club, and Valencia.

Even in the match against Rayo Vallecano, he was fouled twice. Yamal’s 18 fouls received places him ahead of most La Liga players, with only Christantus Uche of Getafe and Real Sociedad’s Take Kubo coming close, each with 16 fouls against them. Vinicius Jr follows closely with 15 fouls suffered.
