Manchester United are trailing 1-0 at home to Ipswich Town inside five minutes.

It took the out-of-form Tractor Boys only three minutes and 39 seconds – their fastest Premier League goal of the season – to find a breakthrough against Ruben Amorim’s in-despair Reds.

An unthreatening phase of play saw Patrick Dorgu look to pass the ball calmly back to his goalkeeper, who, for some reason, had rushed off of his goalline to meet the ball before missing it entirely, allowing Jaden Philogene to pounce and tap his effort into an open net.

“OH MY WORD….WHAT A MESS FROM MAN UTD!!! Dorgu and [Andre] Onana. This is incredible. A hopeful ball over the top looks simple for Dorgu, who doesn’t look where his goalkeeper is on the edge of his box. He passes it past him, which allows Jaden to run through and score into the empty net. That is Sunday League stuff. At Old Trafford. Unbelievable,” said Sky Sports live commentary.

“Huge mix-up between Dorgu and Onana. Just when you think this United team can’t sink any lower, it gets worse. The new signing needs to pick his head up fast,” added Patrick Rowe.

Onana’s United tenure has left a lot to be desired

It’s yet another costly error to add to a lengthy catalogue of howlers in Onana’s one-and-a-half seasons at United.

Erik ten Hag chose the Cameroonian to succeed David de Gea after his 12-year tenure between the sticks at Old Trafford came to an end, having worked with Onana during his time in charge at Ajax.

United forked out £47 million to prise him from Inter Milan, where he spent only one year before choosing to reunite with his former coach.
