How did we play?

Apart from the lovely move for our goal, everything was just a bit rubbish. Passing was off, movement was slow, shooting was pants and defending was meh. This of course may have had something to do with Derby defending stoutly, with their stout challenges and stout pressing, all done by men with very stout chests (is there a team with wider chests than Derby players? You could fit two whole Kellen Fishers into Nathaniel Mendez-Laing’s pectorals). Anyway, we probably didn’t deserve to win this game so the result wasn’t entirely unfair in the end.

What was the best bit of the game?

Sargent’s goal was a shining beacon in a sea of turds. A beautiful set of incisive passes, perfectly finished.

What was the worst bit of the game?

There was a period of about 20 minutes in the second half where Kenny McLean played as a sort of inside right forward. It didn’t work. He just got in the way. I’m not sure why he did it but it reminded me of when I play 7-a-side and someone random comes and plays in my normal position and i just think ‘f*ck it, i’ll go and play somewhere else’, to no avail whatsoever. I think Kenny felt like this about Marcelino Núñez, who wanted to be on every ball, all the time. It messed the system up and let Derby back in the game at a time we should have been winning by more.

What was the atmosphere like?

The most enjoyable part of the game, really. Derby fans were loud and proud and the Barclay was energised by it.

Hero of the match

The chicken and leek pie I had at half time was my hero of the match. Carrow Road has upped its pie and pastry game recently and this is not to be sniffed at.
