We’ve just had full time in the Chelsea – Wolves game, and the Man of the Match award has just been given out by Sky’s Monday Night Football.
Who did it go to? Of course, it had to be the man in the middle of all the narrative today, Trevoh Chalobah. Isn’t that always the way? Freshly returned from loan just a few days ago, he went straight into the back 4 and looked great. The fans cheered his name before kickoff and sang for him all game, and he repaid them.
Many of the sites which track player performances backed up Sky’s selection by making the same one themselves.
The stats Sky showed from the game illustrated just why the defender was their choice. Chalobah had an assist (although his header was going in and it could just as easily have been a goal), 2 chances created (joint first on the team), and defensively had the most touches, clearances and interceptions on the team.
Just as we predicted, he slotted right back into the side as though he’d never been away. If only he never had been away, we might be quite a few points better off… Levi Colwill will return soon, followed by Benoit Badiashile and then Wesley Fofana. It’s going to be very interesting to see who is first choice come May.

Overall, we’re just delighted to get an easy home win, make it through with no further injuries, see Trevoh get a great reception and an assist, and to watch the team actually see a game out successfully. This will be great for confidence, we’ve added a great new centre back option and won our way back into the top 4.
Onwards and upwards!
