Very few people gave Milan a chance against Real Madrid, but the Rossoneri defied the odds last night, beating Los Blancos 3-1 at Estadio Santiago Bernabéu.

Milan played a game of quality, heart and tactics and got the big win with goals coming from Malick Thiaw (12′), Vinícius Júnior (23′ pk), Álvaro Morata (39′) and Tijjani Reijnders (73′).

“I think it’s never easy to win here at the Santiago Bernabéu, and we played a fantastic game, both defensively and in attack,” Theo told Sky Italia. “As the coach said, I wasn’t at 100% physically and mentally, but I’m improving, and we, as a team, played a great game.”

How did it feel winning in this stadium with the Captain’s armband?“The most important thing isn’t being the Captain for just this match, but for every game I play. I’m very happy. We have to keep working hard and focus. Now we need to think about Saturday’s match, which is even more important.”

How did you experience this moment of Leão?“As we all know, Leão hasn’t been at his best recently, but as a team, and me as a teammate, we supported him every day. Today, we saw the real Leão – the one we want to see from here on.”

You could’ve scored as well in the second half…“I hit it a bit poorly [laughs], but it happens…”

Is there potential in a five-man defence?“I don’t know. I think the coach prepared for this game very well; we knew Vinícius is very strong one-on-one. Musah and Emerson did a great job containing him. I’m not sure if this setup has a future—we’ll have to wait or ask the coach [laughs].”
