Borussia Dortmund went to the Allianz Arena yesterday following a humiliating first leg at the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals against FC Barcelona, which resulted in a 4-nil defeat and an almost certain elimination. If things couldn't get worse, the Black-and-Yellows would play their biggest rivals in the same week, away from the Signal Iduna Park (aka instant karma). A der Klassiker with a clear favorite and a predictable win for the homeowners. Or that's what we all thought, at least.
Surprisingly, BVB pulled off a 2-2 draw in Münich, taking a point back home and keeping the hope of a European spot still alive. The first half was pretty much played on Dortmund's defensive half, where Bayern had way too many chances to open the scoreboard. In the second half, BVB broke the deadlock with a beautiful Maxi Beier header, but it wouldn't take long for the Bavarians to come back, with Guerreiro, a former Dortmund star, and Gnabry making it 2-1.

At the same time, Carney Chukwuemeka and Pascal Groß missed two clear chances at the end that could have resulted in a legendary derby victory. In that context, BVB will gladly take a point, but still, we might regret those missed opportunities in the European race, where Dortmund is only three points behind sixth-place Frieburg. Here are three takeaways from BVB's 2-2 der Klassiker draw at the Allianz Arena:
