Tottenham Hotspur are going through a season full of complications, but injuries are not the only factor being pointed out by the media and fans.

Spurs must start working hard now to shape their squad for the 2025-26 campaign—and also to decide who will be leading the team.

Recently, we shared an analysis on why Tottenham should continue trusting Ange Postecoglou, highlighting that the Australian is not the main culprit for the team’s struggles.

While it remains unclear whether Tottenham are planning for a future without Postecoglou, reports about potential replacements for the former Celtic boss have been increasing.

Now, it is believed that Spurs will compete with none other than Real Madrid for the signature of a high-profile Premier League manager.

According to Fichajes.com, Real Madrid have identified Andoni Iraola as their 'Plan B' behind Xabi Alonso, the current Bayer Leverkusen manager, to replace Carlo Ancelotti.

Meanwhile, Tottenham are also cited as one of the clubs interested in convincing the Spanish coach to take charge of their squad.

"Bournemouth will do everything in their power to keep him. Not just because of potential interest from Tottenham or Madrid, but for the club as a whole. Andoni Iraola has done a fantastic job there since arriving, and they’ll want to continue that.

"A club like Bournemouth, when you’re in the Premier League and in a position to push higher, you have to try to maintain that. That means keeping continuity with the manager and players (…) From top to bottom, the club has to decide where they want to be."

That was Bournemouth’s reaction just days ago to the speculation surrounding Andoni Iraola and, above all, Real Madrid’s reported interest in the manager.

It’s clear that the current Bournemouth boss is attracting attention at 42 years old, thanks to his impressive work with the Cherries and previously with Rayo Vallecano.

That’s why he is now being targeted by another top club in the Premier League.

And, according to the same report, Tottenham have their eyes on him, as Ange Postecoglou has not fully convinced due to Spurs' results this season, leaving his future up in the air once again.

Once again, sacking Postecoglou isn’t the solution

While the results have been disappointing, Postecoglou should not be made the scapegoat for Tottenham’s problems.

Injuries to key players have heavily impacted the squad, and the club’s recruitment issues largely fall on chairman Daniel Levy.

Sacking Postecoglou at this stage would be premature, especially considering the progress made earlier in the season.
