Manchester United remain among Xavi Simons’ many admirers heading into the summer transfer window.
It’s a period that couldn’t be more crucial for INEOS to showcase their ambition to the Old Trafford faithful by sufficiently bolstering Ruben Amorim’s squad. They went all-out for the ex-Sporting Lisbon boss to succeed Erik ten Hag last October, so must now find the players he deems suitable to fit his newly implemented system.
In line with that, acquiring frontline reinforcements is imperative. Amorim currently has only two players available to occupy his forward positions heading into the final fixtures of the campaign in the form of Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund, both of whom are enduring stagnant form.

Alas, one name said to be on INEOS’ shortlist is Simons of RB Leipzig.
United have long been linked with the Dutch starlet but failed to ever materialise their interest with a formal approach or bid. This summer could well pose as the perfect opportunity, with MailSport claiming Leipzig could look to make a ‘quick profit’ on their star.
The Reds have reportedly ‘maintained contact’ over Simons, although any potential pursuit may rely on whether Amorim’s men can seal Champions League qualification – which they can now only do via winning the Europa League in Bilbao this May.
In his 21 Bundesliga appearances this campaign, the 21-year-old has notched a respectable nine goals and five assists. He’ll now be looking to play his part in his side’s quest to finish in the European places, with Leipzig currently fourth and two points ahead of Mainz in fifth.
