Italy international Sandro Tonali went viral for scoring a goal of the season contender for Newcastle United, netting practically from the corner flag. But did he mean it?

The midfielder looked as if he was shaping up the cross down the right, but smashed it right-footed between the Brentford goalkeeper and the near post, surprising everyone.

The debate online and in television studios was all the same, did Tonali mean to go for goal, or was it a mistaken cross?

Either way, it proved to be the winner, as Newcastle beat Brentford 2-1 at St. James’ Park in the Premier League this evening.
