Amid growing interest from Saudi Arabia in recent weeks, Real Madrid have acted to tie down key superstar Vinicius Jr. to a new contract at the club.
The 24-year-old superstar’s current deal runs out in 2027 and the Merengues are eager to secure his future, especially with Saudi Arabia stepping up their pursuit with a huge contract.
As such, Real Madrid recently had a meeting with the Brazilian’s camp and put forth their first renewal offer.
However, as per Mario Cortegana of The Athletic, Vinicius Jr. and his camp have rejected the first contract renewal offer that Real Madrid have put forward.
Vinicius signed his last contract in 2022, which was officially announced in 2023, coming with a €1 billion release clause.
The winger’s current annual salary is around €15 million net, after pocketing several bonuses, including the one after his FIFA Best Men’s Player of the Year award win.

Real Madrid requested a meeting with his representatives mid-January to discuss a renewal and proposed an improved salary.
However, it was shot down by Vinicius’ camp and a family member who was also attending the said meeting at Valdebebas.
Despite the rejection, talks will continue between the two parties to reach an agreement over a new contract for the Brazilian international.
Since joining the club in 2018, Vinicius has featured 293 times for Real Madrid across all competitions, scoring 101 and assisting 83 goals.
In a recent interview, the 24-year-old superstar insisted that he wishes to stay at the club for many more years and create history at the club.
“Making history at this club is very important to me and I hope I can continue at Real Madrid for many more years,” he had said.
So, Real Madrid can be optimistic about their chances of reaching an agreement over a new deal despite the initial proposal being rejected.
