Davide Frattesi has faced criticism for an “aimless” performance for Inter Milan in yesterday’s Serie A loss to Roma.

Today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, are unsparing in their assessment of the Italian international’s display.

Davide Frattesi got the start for Inter Milan against Roma yesterday.

Amd the former Sassuolo midfielder did have one memorable moment early on in the match.

Frattesi had the ball in the back of the net in the opening minutes. He showed his trademark goalscoring instincts.

However, an offside against teammate Marko Arnautovic who had played Frattesi in quickly ended the 25-year-old’s celebrations.

After that one really positive early moment, there was little meaningful contribution from Frattesi.

In the first half, the Italian international did little to prevent Roma from overrunning Inter in the centre of the pitch.

While Frattesi has never lacked energy or dynamism, he did not win his duels or react to danger well enough.

Then, in possession, Frattesi was if anything worse.

The 25-year-old lost the ball too often. And in the second half as Inter turned up the pressure in search of an equalizer, he offered little.
