West Ham priority target ‘dreams’ of Barca move but Hammers still have the upper hand

West Ham United must go all in to sign Jonathan David on a free transfer despite the calibre of clubs currently on his heels.
According to Sacha Tavolieri, the Hammers have made David their top priority, but they must table a lucrative offer to stand a chance of fending off the European elites.
David is one of the most sought-after strikers in European football, so there’s bound to be a transfer tug-of-war when his contract with Lille runs out this summer.
The Canadian striker has been in fantastic form for Lille this season.
He has notched 21 goals and nine assists in 31 games across all competitions this season, directly contributing to over 41% of Lille’s goals in Ligue 1.
The 25-year-old is also spearheading Lille’s push for a spot in the Champions League with 13 goals and three assists in 22 Ligue 1 appearances.
David has the consistency, pace, finishing ability, and versatility to thrive in Graham Potter’s side.
He’d be a game-changing addition to the squad and a massive statement of intent if West Ham can pull off a transfer.
They’d need to table a compelling financial and sporting package to convince him to make the London Stadium his new home.
For now, West Ham’s biggest obstacle in the race to sign David is Barcelona, but there’ll be more over the next few months.
David has previously admitted that he dreams of playing for the Blaugranas, but their financial limitations pave the way for West Ham to swoop in.
Reports suggest that David’s total package – including agent fees, signing bonus, salary, and performance-based incentives – could reach €20 million (£16.5m).
It might be a steep price, but its an investment that could pay off handsomely for the Hammers.
As things stand, West Ham are the only club to have placed a concrete offer on the table. But that won’t last for long.
Arsenal are also weighing up the possibility of signing the Canadian striker, but they’re focused on appointing a new sporting director at the moment.
