West Ham United are set to sign Ajax striker Brian Brobbey on loan after agreeing terms with the Eredivisie club and player, according to talkSPORT and journalist Ben Jacobs.
The Hammers want to bolster their attacking ranks for the second half of 2024-25, and the 22-year-old Netherlands international is set to move to the London Stadium club in the coming days.
West Ham also have RB Leipzig striker Andre Silva on their list of targets for the January transfer window and will learn whether he is available this morning before deciding how to proceed.
Irons manager Graham Potter could do with the services of Brobbey, who bagged 22 goals in all competitions last season.
The Dutchman emerged as their top target following positive talks between the two clubs on Thursday, and a deal has all been wrapped up.
Brobbey has struggled to replicate his form from last season this term, with only four goals to his name in 28 appearances, but a move to West Ham could get him firing on all cylinders again.
Injuries to attacking trio Niclas Fullkrug, Michail Antonio and Jarrod Bowen have left the Hammers very short of options in the final third, and they really need at least two additions before the end of the ongoing transfer window.
West Ham have also been linked with interest in Celtic youth striker Daniel Cummings and Brighton & Hove Albion forward Evan Ferguson, but it remains to be seen whether they plan to move for either after closing in on Brobbey and eyeing a move for Silva.
They need more quality attackers having scored just 27 goals in 22 Premier League games so far this term, and they will hope the Ajax star can prove to be an inspired addition to the team.
West Ham are just four places and ten points above the relegation zone and are not safe yet, so they need to make the most of the January window and get players capable of improving their fortunes on the pitch.
