Trevoh Chalobah has been very poorly treated by Chelsea in recent times, and some people were surprised he was even willing to come back when recalled by the club from Crystal Palace this week.
But the scenes of him returning to training this week recorded by Chelsea TV saw him smiling as he was reintegrated into the first team group.
That induction ceremony felt quite unnecessary given how long Chalobah has been at Chelsea. As Enzo Maresca said himself, the guy knows the club better than anyone:
“He [Chalobah] knows the house better than me, he was born here. First of all, he was very happy; I can see it in his face. I had a chat with him a few days ago and you can see it in his eyes when he is really happy. We are really happy he is here.”
You can see the action in the clip embedded here:

There is no denying the big smile on Chalobah’s face as he gets stuck into his first session back at his boyhood club. We fully expect him to go on to do what he’s done every other time he’s been given a chance – earn his place in the team with good performances.
That chance could come as soon as Monday night, with Levi Colwill now reportedly carrying a knock. There’s a real shortage at the back for us, hence Chalobah’s recall, and he looks likely to be thrown right into the action.
That smile could get even bigger. Benoit Badiashile and Welsey Fofana aren’t expected back anytime soon, so there should be a great chance for Chalobah to re-establish himself immediately in the team.
