Inter Milan are looking to take a “zero drama” approach as they attempt to bounce back from their derby defeat to AC Milan.

Today, Inter return to training for the first time since their disastrous showing in the derby.

The Nerazzurri squad rested yesterday. But now it is back to work.

And the objective will be clear for Inter – they must make big improvements.

Last week’s draw away to Manchester City in the Champions League may have suggested that Inter have found their groove for the season.

But Sunday’s clash with city rivals AC Milan brutally disabused the Nerazzurri of that notion.

Inter were below par in just about every respect against the Rossoneri.

And it hasn’t exactly just been the derby either. Inter have also drawn both their matches away from home so far this season. There was a 2-2 draw in Genoa, and a 1-1 stalemate in Monza.

With eight points from five matches, this is actually the Nerazzurri’s worst start to a season under Simone Inzaghi.

In the 2022-23 campaign Inter had nine points at this stage.

All of that has set the tone for an honest reckoning in today’s return to training for Inter.

The team are all well aware that they have not lived up to expectations thus far on balance, despite some positives.

However, according to the Gazzetta, the mood is not one of panic.

Nor does anyone want there to be “drama.”

Everyone at Inter is insisting on simply going about their work in training.

The belief is that if the squad work to find their best mental and physical levels, they can return to being the team that they were last season.

But overreacting can only be a hindrance to that process.
