Celtic are expected to have a busy summer transfer window. We are still months away but they are already being linked with players like Mathias Kvistgaarden of Brondby, Kalidou Sidibe of Guingamp, Wataru Endo of Liverpool, Elvis Rexhbecaj of FC Augsburg and more. On the other hand, there are expected to be exits as well with the likes of Nicolas Kuhn, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Daizen Maeda and more being linked with moves away from Parkhead.

One player who left Celtic not too long ago is Kyogo Furuhashi. He joined Rennes in the winter for a transfer fee believed to be in the region of £10 million.

Things have not gone Kyogo's way since leaving Celtic, though. He has spent most of his time at Rennes sitting on the bench, often being left as an unused substitute.

There have also been rumours that Rennes are already looking for a replacement for Kyogo ahead of the summer transfer window. So, naturally, he is being linked with a move back to Celtic.

Celtic brought back Jota in January, incidentally from Rennes. Kieran Tierney will also be heading back to his boyhood club in the summer. Will Kyogo join that list?

Some people are certainly expecting a Kyogo return to take place. As reported by Football Insider, Keith Wyness told the Inside Track podcast:

"I’d be surprised if he doesn’t go back to Celtic.“I think that’s what makes all the sense in the world. I think he’d be welcomed back.“I think he’s made a mistake and I think often, if you’re lucky, it’s only half a season that you’ve had to learn that you’ve made a mistake.“I suggest he goes back to Glasgow, gets himself sorted out and now kicks on after that."

Celtic did not end up replacing Kyogo in the winter. So, the club still need to sign a striker. Could they end up bringing him back instead? Time shall tell.

Kyogo scored 85 goals during his time at Celtic Park. But considering how well Daizen Maeda has done as a centre-forward since his exit, do the Hoops even need him anymore? And if he is brought back, where would he fit in? Any return could depend on other exits.
