Chelsea have been told one of the players they loaned out last summer is currently the best midfielder in their new league.

The Blues have signed a number of young exciting talents under the Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital ownership, with two of South America’s best talents in Estevao Willian and Kendry Paez set to arrive this summer.

However, the Blues have another talent out on loan this season who’s really impressing and is consistently producing top performances.

Andrey Santos, who Chelsea signed for around £13m in January 2023 is thriving in Ligue 1 with Strasbourg, and the 20-year-old has earned rave reviews.

Santos scored a brilliant goal on Sunday as Strasbourg beat Toulouse 2-1 to remain seventh and right in the hunt for European football.

The midfielder is set to return to Chelsea and play a key role in the squad next season, and he’s been earmarked to compete with Romeo Lavia, whilst new signing Essugo will provide an alternative to Caicedo.

Santos has come on leaps and bounds this season with nine goals and three assists in 26 appearances in all competitions, and Rosenior has made a big claim about the midfielder.

“Andrey is the best midfielder in the league for me,” he said as quoted by TBR Football.

“He deserved a goal. He’s everywhere on the pitch, in both areas. The goal reflects the player and the season he’s having.”

As  things stand the Blues will begin next season with five midfield options meaning it’s likely both Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Lesley Ugochukwu will leave the club this summer either permanently or on loan.
