A number of changes to the England Under 21s squad have now been made.
Friday morning saw Ben Futcher name his 24 players (see below) for the next get together.
England Under 21s taking on Spain and Holland.
Newcastle United star Tino Livramento named in this original England Under 21s squad, but then was one of a number of them moved up to the senior England squad, after ‘injury’ forced eight (seven of the eight were from Man City, Liverpool and Arsenal…) to drop out of Lee Carsley’s squad.
Now that has seen a further knock-on effect and opportunity given to others, as an announcement (see below) on Tuesday night saw players promoted to the England Under 21s from the Elite Squad (Under 20s).
Amongst those is 18 year old Lewis Miley, this his first ever chance to experience the England Under 21s squad.
The FA official update on England Under 21s – 12 November 2024:
‘Norwich City’s Kellen Fisher, Bristol City loanee George Earthy and Newcastle United’s Lewis Miley have received maiden call-ups to the England MU21 squad.
The trio were previously part of the Elite League squad but have now been added to Ben Futcher’s group.
Luton Town’s Teden Mengi has also been recalled to the squad ahead of fixtures away to Spain and Netherlands.
This follows previous confirmation of Jarrad Branthwaite, Tino Livramento, Morgan Rogers and James Trafford moving across to the senior squad.
Elsewhere, Elliot Anderson, Callum Doyle, Jamie Gittens and Jack Hinshelwood have been ruled out through injury.’
