Borussia Dortmund has been a mess for a very long time now. From constant managerial changes to nepotistic hiring methods, BVB's poor administration has been reflected in the first team's 2024/2025 season. With a utopian perspective for European football next season as the club ranks 11th place in the Bundesliga, the fans' hopes are not the only thing that will decrease for the following year.

Most certainly, without the Champions League, or maybe any European competition whatsoever, BVB's revenues for 2025/2026 will be more scarce than in previous years. That change will directly affect how the club's funds will be spent, which means the board will need to open space in the budget, and some cuts might be necessary. Even with a few contracts allegedly including pay cuts in case of a lack of European football, some players with already uncertain futures might be on the shipping list for the next transfer window.
