A FANTASTIC ROSSONERE FIGHTBACK AGAINST ROMA

AC Milan
·04 de maio de 2025
The season has finished with draw, and what a draw! At the Tre Fontane in Rome, the Rossonere enjoyed one final thrill in this 2024/25 campaign, coming from three goals behind to draw 3-3 with Roma. AC Milan found themselves 2-0 down at the break, and the second half opened with another Giallorosse goal. But the Rossonere fought back, starting with a header from Mesjasz to make it 3-1. Evelyn Ijeh then took centre stage with two goals, including a brilliant left-footed strike to level things at 3-3 at the end of a half dominated by our girls.
This was the final chapter of the season, one which has finished with a solid record in the Championship Round: two wins, four draws and two defeats. The 3-3 draw in Rome is a fitting reward for a team that has grown exponentially throughout the year, rising to the challenge and bravely going toe-to-toe with the top sides in Serie A. Today saw Evelyn Ijeh score a brace for the third time this season, taking her tally to twelve league goals in 2024/25. The future starts now, and the Rossonere will be hoping to pick up where they left off when the 2025/26 season kicks off.

MATCH REPORT The Rossonere made a bright start to the match, with Ijeh getting on the end of Stokić’s ball over the top but failing to get enough power on her effort. Roma took the lead with their first attack as Giacinti converted Haavi’s cross (5’). Nevertheless, the Giallorosse were leaving space at the back, and Thøgersen needed to intervene to thwart Stokić in the seventh minute. Giuliani saved a shot from Haavi in the eleventh minute, but the hosts netted a second just before the half-hour mark: Koivisto was penalised for handball in the box, and Giugliano stepped up to convert the resulting penalty. The Rossonere struggled to muster a response and went into the break two behind.
Dompig took Renzotti’s place at the start of the second half, but the home side quickly added a third through Kuhl, who fired home with her right foot on the edge of the box. The match seemed over, but Gosia Mesjasz sparked the Rossonere back to life with a header from a Rubio cross (54’). Five minutes later, Arrigoni won back possession just outside the area and picked out Ijeh, who pulled another one back. AC Milan had all the momentum: Ceasar foiled Stokić on the hour mark, while Dompig also came close a minute later. The match then calmed down until the 92nd minute, when Ijeh produced a moment of magic with her left foot to make it 3-3, much to the delight of the entire team.
