Al-Hilal line up Bruno Fernandes transfer, Man Utd to reject any offer | OneFootball

Saudi Pro League (SPL) club Al-Hilal are considering making an offer for Manchester United playmaker Bruno Fernandes.

However, according to the Daily Mail, Man Utd plan to repel any offers for Fernandes. He is their captain and a crucial pillar in the team.

Al-Hilal reportedly have a hole burning in their pocket after missing out on Liverpool talisman Mohamed Salah.

They wanted the Egyptian winger as their next superstar addition after signing Ruben Neves, Renan Lodi, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Salah signed a new Liverpool deal, prompting Al-Hilal to turn to Fernandes.

The Portuguese international has bagged 98 goals and 85 assists in 285 appearances for the club. He leads his Man Utd teammates in goal contributions this season with 36.

Fernandes would be a massive miss in the engine room if the Red Devils let him go. No player is irreplaceable, but he is as close as they come to that status.

The move for Fernandes is emblematic of the SPL’s strategy of going for big-money acquisitions instead of targeting more prudent signings.

The highly-maligned strategy worked last season as they claimed a record 19th league title ahead of Al-Nassr.

However, they need a spark after crashing out of the Asian Champions League against their league rivals. They are also set to finish second in the league.

Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne could be a more viable option to add creativity and boost their profile.

They will likely face competition from Major League Soccer (MLS) clubs for De Bruyne, who will leave City when his contract expires this summer.
