Albania & Iran Stars Continue To Underwhelm In Inter Milan 2-1 Feyenoord Champions League Clash

Kristjan Asllani and Mehdi Taremi continued to look below par in yesterday’s Champions League clash between Inter Milan and Feyenoord.
This is the view in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi gave a chance to some of his less regular starters to shine against Feyenoord yesterday evening.
The Nerazzurri coach left some big names out of the starting eleven. Lautaro Martinez, Nicolo Barella, and Alessandro Bastoni all got a rest in view of Sunday’s match against Atalanta.
That meant that Mehdi Taremi started in attack.
The Iranian has hardly been a regular starter for Inter in Serie A. However, he has had plenty of opportunities in the Champions League.
Meanwhile, Hakan Calhanoglu started the match in holding midfield. But Kristjan Asllani did come off the bench to replace the Turk in the second half.
Mehdi Taremi has undoubtedly struggled for goals this season.
And yesterday was a chance for the 32-year-old to get on the scoresheet – something that would come as a huge confidence boost.

But Taremi once again showed a lack of a clinical edge in the penalty area.
It was not an outright bad performance from Taremi. The Iranian linked up fairly well with Marcus Thuram, and even managed to win Inter a penalty.
But the space was there in front of goal for Taremi. And he failed to take it, also squandering a good chance to score in the first half.
Meanwhile, Kristjan Asllani did not exactly give a decisive answer to questions about whether he’s an able backup to Calhanoglu.
The 22-year-old came on and immediately went into the book for a sloppy foul.
That moment of carelessness means that Asllani will have to serve a suspension for the first leg of next month’s quarterfinal tie against Bayern Munich.
