Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has appointed separate coaches to work with the defenders, midfielders and strikers.

The collegiate approach on the training pitch is a major departure from Erik ten Hag’s methods, according to the Telegraph.

The Portuguese is eager for the Red Devils to kick-start their season following an underwhelming start to the campaign.

Amorim came to Man United with assistant head coach Carlos Fernandes, goalkeeper coach Jorge Vital, physical performance coach Paulo Barreira and first-team coaches Adelio Candido and Emanuel Ferro.

The Old Trafford club retained the services of first-team coaches Darren Fletcher and Andreas Georgson and assistant first-team goalkeeper coach Craig Mawson following the sacking of Ten Hag and his staff.

All eight coaches will be focused on specific departments. It is a departure from the traditional method of a first-team coach overseeing entire sessions with the whole squad ahead of games.

The whole team will come together for sessions as and when required, but the bulk of the training sessions will see the defenders, midfielders and forwards work separately.

While it is regarded as the modern way of coaching, getting the needed results on the pitch remains the desired output.

Man United fans will be hoping their team can replicate the display they saw in the 3-2 victory over Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League last night.

The Red Devils are back in action on Sunday when they host Everton in the Premier League, and a victory will be great for the confidence of the players and the new coaching set-up.
