Milan Primavera coach Federico Guidi has heaped praise on his side after their late comeback against Lecce at the PUMA House of Football today.
Milan fell behind early but scored twice inside two minutes – with both goals coming from Filippo Scotti – to engineer a turnaround inside the final quarter of the match.
Guidi spoke to Milan TV at the full-time whistle to give his thoughts on the game and the spirit shown by his players, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.
Scotti between the 77th and 78th minute and earn three crucial points in the pursuit of the playoff zone. At the end of the match, coach Federico Guidi spoke in front of the media present, including the correspondent of MilanNews.it .
How important is this victory?
“It was definitely a great performance, the boys deserved the result: even when we went behind against an opponent built to win the league, with a great physical structure. Making a comeback victory is proof of how much the boys feel it and how much they wanted to respond to the difficulties.
“Even if they had lost I would have congratulated the boys because today it was an extraordinary performance, on a difficult pitch and with the team that played excellent football. Today they made me understand that they can go far, that they have potential that they can transform into quality.”

The team showed great character…
“I have to say that we have stressed this point a lot, I think that many times when we have not achieved the result there were our demerits or we have not played with the right intensity. Today’s match is proof.
“Seeing the team come out with the ball at their feet on a pitch that was completely muddy, shows that they have qualities. By making these performances on this pitch, they can no longer make mistakes: they have shown me that they know how to play.”
Scotti and Nissen were key…
“Nissen is the victory of work, a boy who has been able to overcome many difficulties: injuries, not being chosen even when he trained continuously because he wasn’t performing as he is performing today…
“What matters is the pitch and the daily routine of training: those who do as Nissen does are an example for all the others, there are no pre-established starting spots. They have to commit, they have to grow and I am extremely happy to let him play when he performs like this.
“I asked a lot of Scotti, I even had harsh words for him but today he reacted like a professional and a mature boy because I expect a lot from him as from all the others: today he responded present on the pitch.
“Pippo is also a boy who deserves satisfaction but it depends on him, when he doesn’t perform like this it’s his fault: the boys from the point of view of desire and hunger must never be lacking.”
Max Ibrahimovic missed out due to injury. How is he?
“He had a cramp and played on a heavy pitch against Fiorentina too. He went off with cramps but nothing major.”

Does an individual show himself better if they an example for others?
“Yes, we want to bring out as many individuals as possible within the group: this is our idea. And it is the only way I know to try to make them realise their dream, that of becoming professional footballers.
“Today is proof that they are extremely intelligent boys as I said myself, a very pleasant group to train, in fact I have a lot of fun on the pitch with them: it is a team that when they play together it is beautiful to watch them train and play.”
Guidi was followed on Milan TV by the hero of the day Scotti, who scored in the 77th and 78th minutes of the game to basically single-handedly earn his team the win.
How does the win feel?
“A beautiful victory, all about character as the coach taught us during the week: these are things that we have, that we carry with us during training. This match was the answer.
“After my two goals we had a different attitude but already from the first minute we started strong, we already knew we had to direct it straight away.”
It wasn’t difficult to turn it over…
“We are professionals, it’s our job: the first match may not go well and we have to start working with our heads down from the next day. That’s how you get results”
