According to a report from Real Madrid Confidencial, Carlo Ancelotti has made it clear to Jude Bellingham will be playing in a much more advanced role for the remainder of the season.
This decision comes as part of a strategic shift at Real Madrid, which has already begun to show results in recent weeks.
The team has returned to training in preparation for their upcoming match against Valencia on January 3, a crucial game for the club’s aspirations in La Liga.
So with just two days left before the match, Bellingham’s role in the squad has become more important than ever.
In the early stages of the season, Bellingham’s positioning on the field was a topic of much discussion. At one point, he was even deployed as a second right-back in the Clasico.
However, Ancelotti has since recognised that Bellingham’s natural strengths are best utilised closer to the opponent’s penalty area.

This shift has had a significant impact on the team’s performance, particularly in December, when Real Madrid saw improved results.
The English midfielder has returned to a more attacking position, which has brought out his best qualities and made him one of the club’s most effective offensive players.
Ancelotti, aware of the importance of Bellingham’s role in the team, has now spoken directly to the player to confirm that this will be his position moving forward.
During the Christmas break, the coach made it clear that he would not be using Bellingham in any other role than near the opponent’s penalty area.
“I’m not going to put you in any other position than near the penalty area,” the manager reportedly told the England midfielder.
This decision, based on the player’s strengths and the team’s needs, aims to maximise his impact on the field. While Bellingham’s work without the ball is invaluable, his presence in more advanced positions is essential for Real Madrid’s attacking strategy.
With this adjustment, Real Madrid are looking to push forward and maintain their competitiveness in La Liga, relying heavily on Bellingham’s ability to contribute in key attacking areas.
