Arsenal have had a disappointing first half to the Premier League season.

The Gunners have been hampered by numerous injuries and must cope with a significant absence for the next couple of months.

Bukayo Saka sustained a hamstring injury against Crystal Palace, and manager Mikel Arteta has since confirmed that he has undergone surgery.

Saka is expected to be sidelined for over two months, and the Gunners will need to find a proper solution.

They could be about to recall Fabio Vieira from his loan stint at Porto.

Vieira has been an undisputed starter for the Primeira Liga giants lately, but he was left out of the squad yesterday due to technical reasons, as per O Jogo.

A private jet departed from Porto to London on Saturday morning. It is probably a big hint that Vieira could be about to return from his temporary stint.

Vieira could be recalled by the Gunners

Arsenal made the surprise decision to loan out Vieira last summer.

The Portuguese was considered Martin Odegaard’s back-up last term, but the emergence of Ethan Nwaneri triggered his return to the Primeira Liga.

Vieira has predominantly played as a right winger this season, contributing two goals and two assists.

His statistics are not overly impressive, but Arteta may want an additional solution to compete with Gabriel Martinelli, Raheem Sterling and Nwaneri on the right wing.

The £34 million signing has been disappointing with 12 goal contributions in 49 games for Arsenal, but could get a chance to redeem himself after Saka’s setback.
