Arsenal teenager Khari Ranson made his debut for the England u18s on Saturday, stepping up from the u16s over the current international break.

Arsenal youth goalkeeper Khari Ranson recently caught the eye in the u18s’ win over Chelsea, making a vital penalty save to keep the young Gunners in the lead early in the second half of a 3-2 victory.

England clearly took notice, as just two days later, Ranson was included in their u18 squad for the March international break.

England are playing a trio of friendlies over the break, but the games are against high-profile opponents in Czechia, France, and Portugal. So despite the friendly nature of the contests, it’s a good chance for the team to test themselves.

It’s been a couple of close games so far, with both the Czechia and France matches finishing 2-2. On an individual note, Ranson got the chance to make his debut against France, coming off the bench at half-time.

Ranson had only previously featured for the England u16s, back in December 2022. It’s been a long wait for another opportunity, and the teenager will want to win a regular spot now.

“Patience. Hard work. God’s timing,” Ranson wrote on Instagram after the game. “An honour to represent [England].”
