AS Monaco in the race to sign Chelsea’s Cesare Casadei? | OneFootball

Following the arrival of Mika Biereth last Saturday, AS Monaco CEO Thiago Scuro has said that he is open to further signings at the club this January. Whilst not naming the sector(s) of the pitch that he is looking to bolster, there is a perceived lack of depth in midfield. Within this context, Corriere dello Sport understands that the Principality club have an interest in Chelsea midfielder Cesare Casadei (22).

The young Italian has struggled to establish himself at Chelsea since making the €15m move from Inter Milan in the summer of 2022. This season, he has made just six appearances in all competitions, five of which have come in the UEFA Europa Conference League. Casadei is yet to make an appearance in the Premier League this season.

A departure from Chelsea is therefore a possibility this month. Monaco, who could lose midfielder Eliot Matazo, who is garnering interest from EFL Championship side Hull City, as per Sacha Tavolieri, could be a potential destination for the Italian. Corriere dello Sport adds that Serie A side Lazio are also interested in signing Casadei this month.
