Our last visit 12 months ago ended in a narrow defeat, as Leon Bailey’s second half goal, which clipped off Ruben Dias, won the contest as the hosts picked up their 14th straight victory on home soil.

In the reverse fixture at the Etihad Stadium later last season, we secured a convincing 4-1 victory, with Phil Foden bagging a hat-trick to stretch our unbeaten run at the time to 24 matches.

After qualifying for the Champions League for the first time last season, Unai Emery's side currently sit seventh in the Premier League table.

FPL managers will be aiming to maximise their points return this weekend and ahead of Saturday’s 11:00 (UK) deadline, read the Scout’s latest report below.

City star

Phil Foden (£9.1m) could be the difference maker when Man City visit Aston Villa in Gameweek 17 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL).

With Foden and Kevin De Bruyne (£9.4m) back to match fitness we can expect an uptick in attacking returns from Manchester City. In Gameweek 16 Foden was City’s most dangerous player. He ranked joint-top for shots on goal (four), second for chances created (two) and fourth for expected goals (xG).

Foden has the fifth-highest Expected Goal Involvement (xGI) at City despite his limited starts. His 24 shots on goal at a rate of one every 31 minutes. This is third only to Erling Haaland (£14.9m) and De Bruyne across the City team.

Last season Foden registered 230 points, only Chelsea’s Cole Palmer (£11.1m) returned more in the whole game.

One to watch

Jhon Duran (£5.8m) is Villa’s in-form player with a goal in each of his last three starts in all competitions.

Differentials

Elsewhere, Alex Iwobi (£5.7m) and Anthony Gordon (£7.2m) are low-owned assets who merit attention.

Iwobi has registered four goals and two assists since Gameweek 9 collecting 49 points in that period

Meanwhile Gordon has returned in three of the last four gameweeks.
