The Serie A title race is certainly shaping up in a fascinating way.

This weekend saw more drama. Atalanta beat AC Milan convincingly to go top of the table, cementing their title credentials.

And Napoli suffered their second home defeat of the season against Lazio. That result both put a big dent in the Partenopei’s title charge, and put the Biancocelesti back on track as contenders after a loss to Parma.

Inter and Fiorentina, meanwhile, are three points back from Atalanta after wins over Parma and Cagliari.

However, there is a big asterisk. The Nerazzurri and La Viola have to play a makeup match. They faced off earlier this month, but the match was postponed.

Condo: “Atalanta, Napoli, Lazio, Inter & Fiorentina All In Serie A Title Race”

And Condo doesn’t rule any of the five teams currently bunched up at the top to stay in the title race right to the end.

“There are five teams in it,” he writes.

“Lazio and Fiorentina have joined Inter and Napoli, who we’ve expected,” Condo goes on. “And then Atalanta, who we always hypothesized could be in it.”

“There’s no recent precedent for this,” Condo describes the multi-team race for the title.

“The competition is open, fierce, and beautiful.”

“And then this could be the group of teams that stay at the top all the way for Champions League qualification,” Condo further argues.

“Assuming that Serie A keeps its five places.”

“It will be important for Juventus (four points back) and Milan (nine back) start to get back on track quickly,” Condo argues for Champions League qualification. “Otherwise it could be too late.”
