Atletico Madrid will ensure its a white-hot atmosphere when Real Madrid arrive at The Metropolitano in the Champions League tonight.
Trailing from the first leg, Diego Simeone’s side must overturn a 2-1 deficit to reach the quarter-finals. Atletico have lost all four previous Champions League ties with their arch-rivals and will be determined to add another European exit to the tale of their rivalry.
Atletico can take encouragement from a strong home record in the Champions League. Eight of their last nine Champions League games on home soil have ended in victory. However, holders Real Madrid have reached at least the semi-finals in each of the last four campaigns.
Diego Simeone can call on an almost full squad for tonight’s clash. Koke remains the only high-profile absentee for Atletico, after Cesar Azpilicueta returned at the weekend.
After failing to start the first leg, Robin Le Normand and Nahuel Molina came into the side at the weekend and could retain their places tonight.
Julian Alvarez is set to be paired with Antoine Griezmann in attack, despite Alexander Sorloth’s goal at the weekend. The latter has scored 10 goals in all competitions this season but is yet to find the target in the Champions League.
Atletico Madrid predicted XI: Oblak; Molina, Gimenez, Le Normand, Javi Galan; Simeone, Marcos Llorente, De Paul, Lino; Alvarez, Griezmann.
Atletico Madrid host Real Madrid in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie tonight. Kick-off in the Spanish capital is 20:00 GMT.
The game will be shown live on TNT Sports 3 in the UK.
