There was great news ahead of Manchester United’s penultimate Premier League game of the season as Ayden Heaven was included in the travelling squad for the clash in London on Friday.
The former Arsenal ace has been sidelined since picking up an injury in the game against Leicester City before the last international break.
The 18-year-old has made four appearances for the Red Devils since his January move from the Gunners, and has impressed with his composure and ability on the ball in each of them.
He was not present during the open training session a couple of days ago and it was expected that the England U19 international’s season was effectively over.
But the fact that he is back in the reckoning, as per The Manchester Evening News, is a huge boost especially given the injury crisis at the back.
Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro are both sidelined and ahead of the Europa League final on May 21, the Portuguese tactician needs all the luck he can get.
Hopefully, Heaven can earn some minutes at Stamford Bridge and emerge unscathed as it would mean he is likely to be a part of the matchday squad in Bilbao.
“Centre-back Ayden Heaven has been included in Manchester United’s travelling squad for their Premier League clash with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Friday night.
“United’s players arrived at Stockport station on Thursday afternoon ahead of travelling south by rail and Heaven was among the group of players pictured disembarking the team coach.”
He was not the only injury boost with Toby Collyer also spotted among the group. The 21-year-old has missed the last 10 games due to a leg injury.
With Amorim expected to rotate to avoid injuries and keep players fresh, the England U20 international has the chance to earn some minutes against the Blues.
Apart from the confirmed names, more players could have travelled separately, and a clearer picture will emerge ahead of the 8:15pm kick-off.
Confirmed travelling squad members: Goalkeepers: Andre Onana, Altay Bayindir, Tom Heaton.
Defenders: Noussair Mazraoui, Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, Ayden Heaven, Tyler Fredricson, Luke Shaw, Patrick Dorgu, Harry Amass.
Midfielders: Casemiro, Manuel Ugarte, Christian Eriksen, Toby Collyer, Kobbie Mainoo, Mason Mount, Bruno Fernandes.
Attackers: Amad, Alejandro Garnacho, Rasmus Hojlund.
