Barcelona will face Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey final after a 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid.
Ferran Torres scored the only goal of the game in the Spanish capital to keep the Catalan’s dream of a treble alive this season. Torres’ goal earned Barcelona a 5-4 aggregate win and Hansi Flick’s side will face Real Madrid in the decider later this month.
The winner continued Torres’ fine form and extended the forward’s record to 16 goals for the campaign in all competitions, despite starting just 12 games.
Rivals Real Madrid booked their place in the final after a thrilling semi-final with Real Sociedad. Antonio Rudiger’s extra-time header made it 4-4 on the night in the second leg on Tuesday and 5-4 to Los Blancos in the tie.
Sociedad had stunned the Spanish champions in normal time, as Mikel Oyarzabal’s goal forced the added period.
The 2025 Copa del Rey final will now see the arch-rivals meet in an El Clásico with silverware on the line. It’s the first Copa del Rey final meeting between the sides since 2014, when Gareth Bale’s brilliant late goal earned Real Madrid a 2-1 win at The Mestalla.
