Barcelona have recently been informed of the financial requirements to secure Jonathan David, with the total cost of signing the striker estimated at around €80 million, reports SPORT.
This amount includes his four-year contract, transfer bonuses, and a signing-on fee. While this is a significant sum, it is considered manageable in the current financial climate at the club, though still somewhat high for Barcelona’s current budget.
David, a highly rated Canadian striker, is reportedly receiving multiple offers from English Premier League clubs, which has caused Barcelona to hesitate.
The club has not yet taken any concrete steps towards signing him, as there are lingering doubts about how his style of play would fit into the team, especially in a system like Barcelona’s.
At present, Barcelona’s primary focus is on strengthening their squad with a left winger, and the club’s financial resources are being allocated toward that objective.

While David is still being considered as a potential option for the future, no action will be taken unless his financial demands become more reasonable, particularly if other clubs make aggressive bids.
The club has a positive view of David’s admiration for Barcelona, especially after his recent comments expressing a desire to join the team. Should they decide to pursue his signature, the player might be willing to make a financial sacrifice to join Barcelona.
Despite his relatively young age, which works in his favour, the club’s priorities currently lie elsewhere.
David’s contract with French club Lille is set to expire, and he has made it clear that he will not be renewing it. This makes him an attractive option for next summer, as he could leave on a free transfer.
However, Lille have made it clear that they do not intend to sell him in January and will allow him to leave when his contract expires.
While David has received lucrative offers from the Premier League, he and his representatives will be weighing their options, with clear financial parameters in mind, starting in January.
