Pablo Torre was one to watch out for at FC Barcelona during the winter transfer window as clubs were interested in signing him.
In fact, on the deadline day, the possibility of joining FC Porto emerged, who sought him to replace Nico Gonzalez. However, the player opted to stay at Barcelona. It was an ambitious decision, hoping to earn a more prominent role in Hansi Flick’s plans.
As highlighted by SPORT, the latest match against Valencia suggests that Pablo Torre’s situation at Barcelona is unlikely to change.
Despite the scoreline being settled at 0-5 in Barça’s favour, Flick chose to give minutes to other players. Indeed, at half-time, Inigo Martinez and Gerard Martin came on, followed later by Marc Casado and Dani Olmo, while Hector Fort was the last of the five substitutions.
As such, once again, Pablo Torre was left without an opportunity. The situation for the young midfielder has not changed.
Torre’s last appearance came in the league match against Valencia, where he played just 12 minutes, and that was thanks to Gavi, who chose not to enter the pitch and requested that the ex-Racing Santander starlet be given a chance.

Torre’s last start was in the Copa del Rey match vs Barbastro, where he played 81 minutes and was the standout player for the team. However, his impressive performance did not alter the intentions of Flick, who is unable to find a place for him in the midfield.
Torre’s contract runs until 2026, and this summer could be crucial for his future. If he does not become more integrated into the first-team dynamic, it may be time to consider a transfer offer.
He still holds significant value, as his performances, albeit limited, have been at a high level. This season, Torre has participated in just 12 matches for Barcelona, scoring four goals and providing three assists.
Torre’s situation is very different, for example, to that of Ansu Fati, who has been clearly shown the exit door. Flick appreciates him and considers him in his plans and always includes him in the matchday squads.
However, the German coach understands that there is fierce competition for spots in the midfield, with players like Casado, Pedri, Gavi, Fermin Lopez, Frenkie de Jong, and Olmo ahead of him.
Torre’s absence is more a reflection of the merit of his teammates than any shortcomings on his part. However, the talented 21-year-old is running out of opportunities and might consider his future in the summer.
