FC Barcelona captain Raphinha was in action last night, playing a key role in Brazil’s 2-1 victory over Colombia in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. The Blaugrana forward was involved in both of Brazil’s goals, showcasing his influence on the game.

First, he successfully dispatched the penalty that was won by the Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior in the early phase of the game.

Then, he gave the pass to Vinicius before the Merengue forward took a shot from a long way out and found the back of the net in the very final seconds of the match.

But in addition to these goals, Mundo Deportivo notes how these two players were also involved in a less desirable interaction right after the second goal.

Dorival Júnior decided to substitute Vinicius Jr. in the final seconds after his goal to run down the clock and secure Brazil’s victory. However, the Real Madrid forward opted to run the entire length of the pitch, deliberately wasting more time—a move that did not sit well with the Colombian players. They urged the Samba star to exit via the nearest sideline, as per the rules.

Vinicius ignored his opponents’ pleas, prompting the referee to personally instruct him to leave the field through the closest sideline. This led to visible protests from the winger.

At this point, Raphinha quickly stepped in, reprimanding his Real Madrid counterpart and urging him to follow the referee’s instructions to avoid further escalating the situation. Matheus Cunha also intervened, helping to convince Vinicius to exit the pitch through the shortest route.

Undoubtedly, this was a leader’s gesture from the Barcelona star, as Vinicius could have been suspended for the upcoming crucial game against Argentina if he had been booked for his actions.

Thus, the Blaugrana winger continued to show his leadership with his national team as he does with Barcelona, and was not shy from being harsh with a teammate who plays for his rival club in Spain.
