Barcelona and Athletic Club kick off the Spanish Super Cup at the King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah later this week in what will be the first semi-final of the competition.
The victor will face off against the winner of Real Madrid vs Mallorca in the finale at the weekend and Barcelona thus have the chance to win their first trophy under Hansi Flick.
Heading into the competitions, their record in the tournament is quite mixed for they have not always had fortune on their side in the short competition.
In the 50-plus games Barcelona have played over the years in the Supercopa de Espana, they have won 22 games and lost as many. Meanwhile, they even have nine draws to their name.
Of this, however, not all the games have been played in the current format given that the competition saw a revision in 2019.
The Supercopa de Espana was initially played only between the winner of La Liga and the winner of the Copa del Rey (the cup runner-up if the winner took home a domestic double the previous season).

The two-legged clash was replaced by a four-game mini-tournament in 2019, changing the entire format and qualification criteria.
Under the old scheme, the Catalans won 20 times, lost on 18 and tied on 7 occasions.
After the revision to the new format, however, they have lost four times of which two were in the finals and two in the semi-finals.
The Blaugrana also have two wins to their name, one against Real Madrid in the final in 2022-23 and one against Osasuna in the semi-final.
Barcelona even have two draws in the new format, both of which came in the semi-finals. Notably, they qualified for the final on both occasions after penalties.
Over the years, Barcelona have won the trophy 14 times with their most recent scalp coming in the 2022-23 season. They have been the runners-up 11 times and have participated in every edition of the competition.
