According to Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich are continuing to monitor Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyökeres.
It is no secret that Gyökeres is currently one of the most sought-after strikers in European football.
Since making the move from Coventry City to Sporting CP in the summer of 2023, the Sweden international has registered 73 goals and 21 assists in just 78 appearances for the Portuguese outfit.
However, as stated in the report, it is very unlikely that the 26-year-old will depart Sporting this winter.
It is understood that a move in the summer would almost be guaranteed, with Manchester United, Manchester City, and Barcelona all keen to secure the services of Europe’s most feared striker.
Nevertheless, it is not yet known who leads the race to sign Gyökeres, with Manchester United’s poor form making a move for the 26-year-old increasingly difficult to conceive, despite the appointment of Gyökeres’ former head coach Ruben Amorim.
This has left the door open for Bayern Munich, who are still monitoring the striker’s situation alongside Real Madrid.
While Der Rekordmeister are likely to keep their focus on the signing of Florian Wirtz in the summer, should the Bayer Leverkusen midfielder become unavailable, then they could turn their attention to Gyökeres.
