Manchester United chiefs are adding forwards to their lengthy shortlist of targets in preparation for the summer transfer window.

On Monday, it was revealed by Sky Sports’ Florian Plettenberg that Benjamin Sesko, Viktor Gyokeres, Victor Osimhen and Huge Ekitike were ‘high’ on INEOS’ list with talks ‘already’ underway to try and get in there early. Links to the latter have since been further verified by Mail Sport, which claims the Frankfurt striker is ‘being monitored’ by the Red Devils.

As is the case for Liam Delap of Ipswich Town, who has enjoyed a stellar campaign as the Tractor Boys’ No.9 following his £20 million move from Manchester City last July. The young frontmen will be in action for their respective countries over the international break at Under 21 level; Delap for England and Ekitike for France.

Both teams face off this Friday in a friendly match, allowing United’s scouts the perfect opportunity to see how the pair fare. They will also presumably be called up to feature in the U21s Euros taking place this June, with the Three Lions currently the reigning champions of the tournament.

How Ekitike and Delap have fared this season

Delap and Ekitike are standout performers for their clubs.

Ekitike, 22, has been in scintillating form since making his Eintracht Frankfurt move permanent before 2024/2025 began; he has notched 19 goals and eight assists in all competitions, playing an influential role in the side’s impressive Bundesliga campaign and progression to the Europa League quarter-finals, in which they come up against Tottenham Hotspur.

City graduate Delap, meanwhile, has recorded 10 Premier League goals thus far – more than any of United’s strikers at this stage of the term.

Ipswich will be doing their utmost to keep hold of him when the window reopens but may grow resigned to losing him after only one season if they drop back down to the Championship. Given they’re currently 18th-placed and nine points from safety, the odds are certainly stacked against them.
