Romelu Lukaku has left Belgium’s Nations League camp after suffering an injury ahead of the team’s clash against Israel.
Speaking to the press (via Gianluca Di Marzio) on the eve of his side’s final Nations League group stage match versus Israel, Belgium boss Domenico Tedesco named Romelu Lukaku on the list of injured players. He ruled the 31-year-old out of the game as he has sustained a knee injury after the Italy match. Tedesco confirmed: “He has a problem with his knee, he needed an injection. We didn’t agree that he would only play one match: he felt the problem after Italy. Romelu won’t be able to train or play for four or five days.”
While the Red Devils are out of contention to progress to the quarter-finals of the competition and have nothing to play for against Israel, the pressure falls on Napoli, who are set to have problems without their first-choice striker against Roma.
Napoli play Roma this weekend and Tedesco has provisionally ruled Lukaku out of training for five days. If such is the case then, it will be a race against time for the injury-prone forward to recover before the match versus his former team.
