Inter Milan midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu could be fit enough to start in Sunday’s Serie A derby clash with AC Milan.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Inter midfielder Calhanoglu has been on the sidelines for a few weeks now.
The 30-year-old picked up a thigh problem during the Supercoppa Italiana final against Milan earlier this month.
Then, Hakan Calhanoglu suffered a separate injury during his recovery process. That was a calf strain, which has kept him out since the Supercoppa.
Calhanoglu has missed four Serie A matches and two Champions League outings.
The Gazzetta note that there could very well be a certain symmetry to Calhanoglu’s return.
The last match that the Turkish international played in was against Milan. The Rossoneri are his former team, and there is certainly no love lost.

Therefore, the derby is always a particularly emotionally charged fixture for Hakan Calhanoglu.
And according to the Gazzetta, the Turk will make his return against his city rivals – hungry for revenge after defeat in the Supercoppa final.
Calhanoglu will certainly be in the squad for Sunday’s league outing against the Rossoneri.
The 30-year-old has made his return to training. He’ll be ready.
The only question is whether or not Calhanoglu will be ready to start in the derby this weekend.
The Turk has not played since the Supercoppa final earlier this month. Therefore, match-fitness will very much be a question for him.
However, given the importance of the match, there may well be the extra motivation for Calhanoglu to play from the start.
The Turkish international is one of Inter’s absolutely key players.
And according to the Gazzetta, it is possible that Calhanoglu could go straight back into the lineup.
