Real Madrid’s defeat to Barcelona for the fourth time this season raised several eyebrows, especially for some decisions that Carlo Ancelotti took on the night.

One such decision that faced serious slack was his decision to keep Rodrygo Goes on the bench throughout the 90 minutes despite the team being behind on the scoresheet for close to an hour.

When he eventually took Vinicius Jr. off, moreover, he sent in the academy’s Victor Munoz over Rodrygo.

It was clear that Rodrygo, thus, was not 100% fit or was feeling under the weather and Onda Cero (h/t The Madrid Zone) reports that his situation is not looking pleasant even heading into the next game.

Another big blow

Real Madrid virtually lost the league to Barcelona in the game last weekend and the Catalans are two points away from glory. A defeat for Real Madrid to Mallorca midweek, however, would only further ease the job for the Blaugrana.

As relayed by the outlet, however, Rodrygo is ruled out of the game against Mallorca as he has physical problems – likely the same issue that kept him out against Barcelona.

This, needless to say, comes as a massive blow to Carlo Ancelotti’s side that is already staring at a lengthy list of absentees for the game.

Vinicius Jr and Lucas Vazquez were injured in El Clasico and are a doubt for the game against Jagoba Arrasate’s side while the team is already reeling with multiple absences in defence.

To rub salt in the wounds, Aurelien Tchouameni is also unavailable through suspension and the manager is likely to field one of Jacobo Ramon or Jesus Vallejo on the night.

Rodrygo’s absence only goes to leave the forward line barren too, with Kylian Mbappe the only fit starting level forward. Arda Guler and Brahim Diaz, needless to say, will have to step up after poor displays against Barcelona.
