Bologna striker Santiago Castro says Lautaro Martinez and Diego Milito are his “idols” and links to Inter Milan “motivate” him.
The Argentine spoke to Bologna-based newspaper Il Resto del Carelino in an interview published in today’s print edition, via FCInterNews.
Santiago Castro has been one of the real breakout starts of the Serie A season.
Castro has scored six goals and made four assists in the Italian top flight for Bologna.
The Argentine’s form has been a key reason why the Rossoblu have not felt the absence of Joshua Zirkzee too highly.
And inievtably, the form that Castro has been in has put him at the centre of some transfer links.
No club have been more strongly linked with the 20-year-old’s signature than Inter.
The Nerazzurri will be aiming to replace Marko Arnautovic and Joaquin Correa next summer. And they will want a young player to reinvigorate the squad.
Meanwhile, Inter have a strong, enduring association with players from Argentine. That could certainly help a transfer happen.
Santiago Castro opened up about who his “idols” are in football.
“When I started following football it was Milito at Inter,” sad the Argentine.

“Then Prato at Velez. I also got the chance to play with him.”
“And then, obviously Lautaro,” Castro said. The Argentine has frequently drawn comparisons to his countryman the Inter captain this season.
Meanwhile, Castro also opened up about the persistent transfer links to Inter.
“I’m not thinking about it,” he said.
“It’s something that motivates me, sure,” the 20-year-old Bologna striker admitted. “But I have to focus on the team I’m at, and on doing well here.”
“The league table and the Coppa Italia are the only things I’m thinking about,” said Castro.
“I can’t waste energy on anything else.”
