It's that time of year again, Borussia Dortmund and the surname Bellingham are being put in the same sentences as reports seem to claim that Die Schwarzgelben wants to bring Jobe Bellingham to the Westfalentstadion. It's a move that has been on the radar since before Jude Bellingham even left Dortmund for Madrid, but up until this point it's only been mere speculation.

When Jude was at Dortmund, the move very much made sense as it would be the opportunity for both Bellingham brothers to play together and showcase their abilities on a high level. At least in terms of the latter, playing in the upper echelons of Europe is something that Dortmund continues to offer, and would likely look to sell Jobe Bellingham on if they were indeed to look to make a move for him.

A move for the younger Bellingham brother would also make sense from a positional standpoint as Dortmund are indeed very light in terms of attacking midfielders at the moment. With Gio Reyna still on the sidelines due to injury, Julian Brandt is the only real option at the 10 (that isn't otherwise occupied) at Nuri Şahin's disposal.

Of course, we also have to look at how realistic a move for Sunderland's midfielder truly is. Valued at 12 million euros, reports indicate Sunderland would prefer to sell closer to a fee of 24 million euros. It is also noted that clubs such as Crystal Palace and Brentford have also recently shown interest.

The requested fee, if accurate, is no small sum for Dortmund to pay for a player currently on two goals and one assist in the EFL Championship. While there is a level of nostalgia that comes along with such a potential signing, it remains to be seen if this would be the right move for Dortmund (for such a steep sum), especially for a player who would be coming in as a rotational option. It was even reported earlier this year that Bellingham was valued at 10-15 million euros, a far more affordable price to pay for the player, who admittedly would make an interesting target for the right financial layout.
